TFSA Limit is an independent Canadian information website. Read this before you rely on anything here.
Not Financial or Legal Advice
Nothing on this site is financial, tax, or legal advice. Not the calculator, not the guides, not the articles — none of it. I want to be upfront about that. What you find here is general information, and it is not a replacement for sitting down with an actual Canadian financial adviser, accountant, or tax professional who knows your specific situation.
Calculator Results Are Estimates Only
The contribution room calculator gives you an estimate. It pulls from publicly available CRA annual limits and runs a standard calculation — but your real contribution room is a more personal number, and there are things the calculator simply has no way of knowing about your history.
Actually, here are the main ones:
- Prior over-contributions and any penalties that came with them
- Years where you weren’t a Canadian resident and therefore weren’t accumulating room
- TFSA accounts spread across multiple financial institutions
- Any CRA adjustments or corrections applied to your specific account record
- Unusual situations that fall outside the standard calculation logic
To be honest, the calculator is a starting point. Before you make a contribution — especially a big one — go verify your actual room through CRA My Account. That’s the only number that really counts.
Information May Change
TFSA limits and CRA rules shift from year to year. I do my best to keep everything on this site current, but I can’t promise every single figure is perfectly up to date at every moment. When something feels off, just go check directly with the CRA. Takes two minutes.
No Liability
TFSA Limit and its operators are not liable for any financial loss, penalty, or damage that comes from using this site or trusting information you found here. Use it at your own discretion. Full stop.
